Group Classes in Chino Hills, CA
At Critical Thinking Dog Services, our board and train program in Chino Hills provides immersive daily training that helps dogs build reliable obedience, better behavior, and real-world confidence faster than traditional weekly sessions.

Structured Learning in a Social Setting
Training your dog around distractions is one of the most important — and most overlooked —
parts of building real reliability. Group classes at Critical Thinking Dog Services in Chino Hills,
CA give your dog exactly that: the chance to practice obedience and manners in a structured
environment with other dogs and handlers present.
Our group classes are not chaotic free-for-alls. Every session is organized, supervised, and
focused on building practical skills you can use in daily life.
Why Group Classes Work
Real-World Distraction Training
A dog who sits perfectly at home with no one else around hasn't really been tested. Group classes create the kind of controlled distraction environment your dog will encounter every day — other dogs moving around, new people, unfamiliar smells — and teach them to listen to you in the middle of it all.
Socialization in a Supervised Setting
Proper dog-to-dog interaction is a skill, not something that happens automatically. Our group classes give dogs the opportunity to be around other dogs in a managed, structured environment — very different from an uncontrolled dog park where poor interactions can
reinforce bad habits or create new ones.
Community & Accountability
Training alongside other owners who are on the same journey creates a sense of community and accountability that's genuinely motivating. Seeing other dogs progress, sharing challenges, and celebrating wins together keeps you engaged and consistent.
Cost-Effective Training
Group classes offer professional instruction at a lower per-session cost than private training, making them an excellent option for owners whose dogs are ready for a group setting and who want to maintain and build on existing skills.

What We Cover in Group Classes
Our group class curriculum is structured to build practical obedience skills progressively, with an emphasis on reliability around distractions. Sessions typically cover:
Foundational obedience: sit, down, stay, come, and heel
Loose-leash walking in a group environment
Polite greetings with people and calm behavior around other dogs
Impulse control exercises and focus work
Place and settle commands for calm default behavior
Handler skills: timing, body language, and communication
Who Group Classes Are For
Ready for Group
Group classes are best suited for dogs who have a basic foundation of manners and can function in the presence of other dogs without extreme reactivity. If your dog has never been around other dogs in a structured setting, we may recommend a private assessment first to determine group readiness.
Not Quite Ready?
Dogs with significant reactivity toward other dogs, fear-based behaviors, or no prior training may find the group environment too stimulating to learn effectively. In those cases, we recommend
starting with private training or our confidence and exposure program before transitioning to group classes.

What to Bring
A 4 to 6 foot leash (no retractable leashes)
A well-fitted flat collar or approved training collar
High-value treats your dog loves
Proof of current vaccinations
Patience and a willingness to learn alongside your dog
Frequently Asked Questions
How many dogs are in each class?
We keep class sizes intentionally small to ensure every dog and handler gets meaningful
attention and feedback. Class sizes vary by session but are capped to maintain a quality
learning environment for all participants.
Can I join a class mid-session?
We recommend starting at the beginning of a class series to ensure your dog builds skills
progressively alongside their classmates. Contact us to find out when the next session begins and reserve your spot.
My dog is reactive — can they join a group class?
Mild reactivity may be manageable in a group setting depending on the dog, but moderate to severe reactivity toward other dogs typically makes group classes counterproductive. We'll assess your dog's readiness honestly and recommend the right starting point — whether that's group classes or a more individualized program first.
